In April, the fund delivered a net return of -1.3%, bringing its cumulative return since inception in January 2024 to 57.8%.
The underlying portfolio generated a positive return of 1.1%, driven by valuation appreciation across several direct and secondary investments. However, the appreciation of the Canadian dollar, primarily against the U.S. dollar, had a negative impact of 2.4% on fund performance. This more than offset the gains from the underlying assets, resulting in the fund's net return of -1.3% for the month. The currency-related headwind effectively reversed the foreign exchange gains realized in March.
How is the fund positioned?
The fund invests in an underlying fund managed by LGT, which consists of 800+ companies and represents 30+ underlying managers. It is globally diversified, with a focus on resilient industries. 62% of the LGT fund consists of direct investments in companies alongside other private equity funds, and 38% consists of investments in secondaries — funds that have already deployed their investments.
