A wire transfer is an alternative method to add funds to your managed or self-directed trading accounts with Wealthsimple.
Unlike a standard deposit, a wire transfer allows you to move CAD or USD from a Canadian or U.S. financial institution to Wealthsimple. We cannot receive wire transfers from institutions outside of Canada or the United States.
Wire transfers typically take 10 business days to complete after setting it up. It takes five business days to move your funds and another five business days before your funds become available to trade or invest.
To set up a wire transfer to your Wealthsimple account, please contact our support team. A member of our team will help walk you through the process and answer any questions you may have.
US dollar (USD) wires
-
Sending USD to a managed investing account
Since all our managed accounts are in Canadian Dollars, we'll automatically convert your USD to CAD as soon as the funds enter your Wealthsimple account. Our portfolios include both USD and CAD ETFs, so some of your funds will be converted back to USD to purchase USD ETFs.

Sending USD to a self-directed trading account
If you upgrade to USD accounts, we'll automatically send your USD to your USD account. Otherwise, we'll automatically convert your USD to CAD as soon as the funds enter your Wealthsimple account.
Canadian dollar (CAD) wires
If you're looking to send funds from a Canadian bank account in CAD, we recommend making a deposit. Making a deposit is generally much faster and cheaper than sending money via wire. However, if you wish to wire CAD to Wealthsimple, you may contact our support team for details.
