Instead of making a deposit to add funds to your spending account, you can add funds using a Visa or Mastercard debit card. By adding a debit card to your Cash app, you can deposit up to $1,000 instantly. You can deposit a maximum of $10,000 per month.
To add your debit card, follow these steps -
- Sign into the Cash app on your mobile device
- Tap your Wallet balance in the top left of the screen
- Tap Add at the bottom of the screen
- Choose Link a bank account
- Under Link your debit card fill out your Card details and Billing address
- Tap Link card
- Lastly, we’ll ask you to confirm that it’s really your debit card. Our partner, Tabapay will send you a verification code to your email or phone number
Once your card is linked, you can use it to deposit funds into your spending account in the Cash app.
- Sign into the Cash app on your mobile device
- Tap your Wallet balance in the left-hand corner of the screen
- Select Add
- Select your Visa debit card and tap Continue
- Choose an amount to deposit into your account and tap Continue
- Tap Confirm to begin the deposit
Which debit cards are supported?
Today, we support Visa debit cards from select institutions and all Canadian Mastercard debit cards. Please note we don't support prepaid debit cards.
You can check to see if you have a Visa debit card by looking for the Visa logo on your physical card. We support Visa debit cards from the following institutions:
- TD
- RBC
- CIBC
- Scotiabank
- Tangerine
- ATB
How do I remove a debit card?
The option to remove a debit card isn’t currently available, but we’ll be adding it soon.
How does Wealthsimple store my card details?
Wealthsimple does not store full card details. We use a PCI-compliant payment processor to ensure you card details are encrypted and kept secure.
Will there be any fees for my deposit?
Wealthsimple does not charge fees when processing a debit card deposit. However, your bank may charge you a fee depending on their fee schedule for your account.
What can I do if my card won't connect?
It might be helpful to double-check the following -
- The billing address you have shared with us should match the billing address registered with the card. If you have recently moved, check with your bank to confirm the address you have with them.
- If you use French characters in your name or login, try entering your details without them.
- Double-check the CVV and expiry date you have entered are correct.
