What is World Liberty Financial?
World Liberty Financial (WLFI) is a decentralized finance (DeFi) platform launched in September 2024, designed to offer cryptocurrency-based financial services such as borrowing, lending, and earning interest using blockchain technology and smart contracts on Aave's V3 protocol. Supported by Donald Trump and his family, WLFI introduced a governance token, $WLFI, which became tradable in September 2025 following its token generation event (TGE) on September 1, 2025. The platform also launched a stablecoin, USD1, pegged to the U.S. dollar. WLFI aims to enhance financial access for unbanked and underserved communities while promoting U.S. dollar-based stablecoins globally. Its initial coin offering (ICO) ran from January 1, 2025, to January 30, 2025, raising significant capital to expand its ecosystem and user base.
What is WLFI?
The native token of the protocol is WLFI, which operates on the Ethereum blockchain. Its main function is governance, allowing holders to participate in decision-making processes. WLFI holders can vote on protocol upgrades as well as "signaling votes," which guide the overall direction and priorities of the protocol. WIFI has a total supply of 100 billion units, with 24.66 billion units currently in circulation, at the time of this publication.
