We support the deceased taxpayer’s final return in our 2015 and later versions. You’ll need to print and mail all returns for anyone who is deceased. Here’s a list of the CRA Tax Centres.

If your partner passed away in the tax year, indicate that your marital status is Widowed and indicate “Yes” it changed in the year, and add your partner’s date of death as the date of change.
If your partner passed away after the tax year, you don’t need to indicate that you are widowed.
If your partner passed away in the tax year, you can use Wealthsimple Tax to prepare their return.
If your partner passed away after the tax year, you must include the date of death in the About You section.
Québec final returns can be submitted by NetFile.
