Here are the three reasons your foreign tax credit might be $0:
You haven’t entered your foreign tax paid yet.
You don’t have any federal tax payable and therefore don’t have any amount that can be credited. Your federal foreign tax credit is limited by line 429 on page 2 of your Schedule 1.
If this is happening and it doesn’t seem correct, make sure you’ve reported your foreign income on your return in the relevant section (e.g., in Employment Income, Investment Income).
