How do I prepare a nil return?

To prepare a nil return:

  • complete the About You section
  • don’t add anything to the Your Taxes section (unless you have a partner, in which case complete the Your Partner section),
  • click Check & Optimize,
  • indicate that you did not earn any taxable income, and
  • file your return (if you have a linked partner, ensure their return is complete before filing your own).
