What is Monad?
Monad is a high-performance Layer-1 blockchain designed to run Ethereum-style smart contracts using the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM). Its architecture focuses on deep parallelization, allowing many transactions to be processed at the same time without affecting determinism or EVM compatibility. Monad uses a proof-of-stake consensus model and includes system-level optimizations in its virtual machine and execution layers to support higher throughput and lower latency. Because the network maintains byte-for-byte EVM equivalence, developers can deploy most Ethereum-based applications with minimal changes.
What is MON?
The native token of the protocol is MON, which plays a functional role in enabling the economic and security mechanisms that support the network. Holders can use MON to pay transaction fees, participate in staking, and help secure the system through proof-of-stake validation. MON may also be used in governance processes as they are introduced. At the time of this publication, there is a total supply of 100 billion units of MON, with approximately 10.8 billion MON currently in circulation.

- The supply, demand, maturity, utility and liquidity of MON;
- Material technical risks associated with MON, including any code defects, security breaches and other threats concerning MON and its supporting blockchain (such as the susceptibility to hacking and impact of forking), or the practices and protocols that apply to them;
- Legal and regulatory risks associated with MON, including any pending, potential, or prior civil, regulatory, criminal, or enforcement action relating to the issuance, distribution, or use of MON; and
- Statements made by regulators or securities regulatory authorities in Canada and other jurisdictions regarding whether MON, or generally about whether the type of crypto asset, is a security and/or a derivative.

Like all other crypto assets, there are some general risks to investing in MON. These include short history risk, volatility risk, liquidity risk, demand risk, forking risk, cryptography risk, regulatory risk, concentration risk, electronic trading risk and cyber security risk. Please review the Wealthsimple Crypto Product Risk Disclosure for additional discussion of general risks associated with the crypto assets made available through the platform.
