You can join your employer's group savings plan by clicking the link in the invitation email sent by your employer. Once you receive your invitation, you can set up your account and start saving in just a few minutes.
Eligibility
To participate in this plan, you must:
- Be an active employee with an employer offering a Wealthsimple group savings plan.
- Receive a formal invitation email from your employer.
How to join
Follow these steps on a web browser or the Wealthsimple app to set up your account:
- Open the invitation email from your employer.
- Select the Get started button within the email.
- Follow the prompts to Log in or create a new Wealthsimple account.
- Confirm your personal details and employment information.
- Select your contribution rates and investment preferences.
- Select Done.
Join using an existing Wealthsimple account
If you already have a Wealthsimple account, you can link your new group accounts to your existing profile. When you log in through your invitation email using your current credentials, your workplace accounts are added to your dashboard automatically. This allows you to manage all your investments in one place.
How to link accounts to the correct profile
If you've already redeemed your invitation but don't see the accounts, they may be linked to a different email address.
- Log out of the Wealthsimple app or web.
- Log in with any other email addresses you may have used.
- If you still can't find your accounts, contact our support team.
Frequently asked questions
Will my employer be able to see my personal accounts?
No. Your employer only has visibility into the contributions and details related to the group savings plan. Your other personal accounts remain private.
What if I use a different email for work than I do for Wealthsimple?
You should set up the group account under your existing Wealthsimple profile using your personal email. You can only have one Wealthsimple profile.
What if I didn't receive an invitation email?
If you're eligible but haven't seen the email, check your junk or spam folder. If it's still missing, contact your HR department.
My colleague forwarded me their invitation, but it's not working. What should I do?
Email invitations are unique. If a colleague shared their link, it won't connect your email to the group profile. Contact our support team, and we'll help link your account to the correct profile.
Can I participate if I’m not a Canadian citizen?
Eligibility is based on the requirements of the account type, such as an RRSP or TFSA. These requirements are the same as those for our personal accounts.
I left the setup page before finishing. What should I do?
You can go back to your original invitation email and click the link again to resume where you left off.
I can’t see my group savings account. What should I do?
The most common reason for missing accounts is that the invitation hasn't been redeemed yet. Search your inbox for the invite, select the Get started button, and Log in to complete the setup.
Can I use my personal email for my group accounts?
Yes. You can link the accounts to a Wealthsimple profile that uses your personal email, even if the invite was sent to a work address.
Do group accounts count towards Premium or Generation plans?
Yes. Group accounts count towards the eligibility requirements for our Premium and Generation plans.
Why do I need to share personal information about my finances and household when signing up for the plan?
When you open a managed investing account, we use a combination of your objectives, your investment time horizon, your level of income, your net worth, your investment knowledge, your past investment experience, and your personal tolerance to risk to assess how much risk (or potential fluctuations) your investments should be subject to.
