What is the Promotion?

The Transfers Bonus Promotion (the “Promotion”) is open to select Wealthsimple clients who complete the Transfer Promotion form and make a transfer into their Wealthsimple Stocks & ETFs or Managed Investing accounts from a different brokerage. Transfers must be received from a third party not affiliated with Wealthsimple to be eligible. Wealthsimple will deposit a cash value into your account based on the net amount you transfer and the type of account you have (the “Bonus”):

Want to receive the Auto-deposit Bonus? Enable an auto-deposit totaling $500/month or more into your Wealthsimple account (excluding GRSPs) and you will receive the enhanced Auto-deposit Bonus instead of the Base Bonus. Who can Qualify?

You are only eligible to receive the Bonus if you receive an invitation from Wealthsimple to participate in the Promotion via an online advertising channel and enter your information into the Transfer Promotion form. Only transfers received after submitting the Transfer Promotion form will qualify for the Bonus.

This Bonus is non-transferrable and cannot be combined with other offers or promotion codes and cannot be applied retroactively. Limit 1 Bonus per qualified client. Must be a resident of Canada. 

When will my bonus be paid?  

The Bonus will be applied to your account (the “Promotional Account”) within 10 business days of your transfer being complete. 

How will my bonus be paid?  

If you have more than one Wealthsimple account at the time your Bonus is paid, your Bonus will be paid in the following order of priority:  

1. Non-registered or personal Wealthsimple Managed Investing account
2. Wealthsimple Managed Investing TFSA account
3. Wealthsimple Managed Investing RRSP account
4. Non-registered or personal Wealthsimple Stocks & ETFs account
5. Wealthsimple Stocks & ETFs TFSA account
6. Wealthsimple Stocks & ETFs RRSP account

There may be tax implications to the Bonus. If your Promotion Account is an RRSP or TFSA, the Bonus will be reported by Wealthsimple as a contribution to the CRA. You are required to review your available contribution room prior to making a contribution to your registered account. Any excess contribution penalties that arise from a contribution are solely the responsibility of you, the client. If you require tax advice, please contact your personal tax advisor.

Do I have to buy Stock with my bonus?  

There is no requirement that you purchase any securities with the Bonus. We do not provide recommendations or investment advice about how to use funds in your Wealthsimple Stocks & ETFs account. You alone are responsible for your investment decisions and Wealthsimple will not consider your financial situation, investment knowledge, investment objectives, savings objectives and risk tolerance when accepting orders from you. All amounts shown are in Canadian dollars. Transfers must be received from a third party not affiliated with Wealthsimple to be eligible. Bonus amounts will be calculated based on cumulative transfers into your Wealthsimple Stocks & ETFs or Managed Investing accounts after submitting the Transfer Promotion form, less withdrawals made from any Wealthsimple account before your transfer is complete. For example, if you transfer $5,000 into your Stocks & ETFs TFSA account, transfer $10,000 into your Stocks & ETFs RRSP account from another institution and withdraw $3,000 from your Managed account, the net deposit amount used for calculating the Bonus would be $12,000.

You are only eligible to receive the Bonus if you receive an invitation to participate in the Promotion via a Wealthsimple advertisement in an online advertising channel and enter your information into the Transfer Promotion form and you otherwise meet our eligibility requirements. 

Customers who receive a Bonus must keep the Bonus and transferred funds in their Promotion Account for 180 days from the completion of the transfer or their Bonus payment may be deducted from their final withdrawal amount or otherwise recovered by Wealthsimple. If a customer receives an Auto-Deposit Bonus, they must keep their auto-deposit of at least $500/month enabled for 180 days from the completion of the transfer or their Bonus payment may be deducted from their final withdrawal amount or otherwise recovered by Wealthsimple. This Bonus is non-transferrable and cannot be combined with other sign-up offers or promotion codes and cannot be applied retroactively. The Bonus remains subject to change, at our sole discretion.
