On February 11, 2021, we made improvements to how we display information on your account. To see these updates on mobile, you must be on the latest version of the app.
First, we updated the default return percentage that we display to simple return. Simple return is calculated as returns divided by your net deposits. It’s the simplest way to see how your portfolio has performed at-a-glance. You’ll still be able to toggle the return type to display time-weighted and money-weighted returns as well.
We’ve also updated our calculation for net deposits. Say you’ve deposited $5,000 into your account. As markets go up, you earn $200, for a total account value of $5,200.
Now let’s say you wanted to withdraw $200 from your account. Previously, when you went to make a withdrawal we would include those earnings in our net deposits calculation (i.e. your deposits including earnings minus your withdrawals). So in this example: $5,200 - $200 = net deposits of $5,000.
Now we’ve removed earnings from the calculation to make it simpler (e.g. $5,000 - $200 = net deposits of $4,800).
Rest assured, this is just a change in how we display information and doesn’t reflect any material change in how your portfolio has performed.
