View the status of a pending institutional transfer
Most institutional transfers take between 2-4 weeks to process. While you wait, you can check the progress of your transfer. To learn more, check the transfer timelines for all account types.
To view the status of your pending transfer, follow the instructions below:
- Sign in to the Wealthsimple app on your mobile device.
- Tap the Activity tab at the bottom of your screen.
- Tap the Filters icon in the top right corner.
- Select Type.
- Scroll down and select Transfers.
- Tap Done.
- Choose the institutional transfer you wish to view.
- Here, you'll find the current status of your transfer as well as its previous history. If there is any action required on your part, we will indicate it on this page.
Update a pending institutional transfer
If your transfer state says Action required, you need to follow the instructions in your transfer details to update your transfer and get it back on track.
To view the action required for your transfer:
- Sign in to the Wealthsimple app on your mobile device.
- Tap the Activity tab at the bottom of the screen.
- Tap the Filter icon and select Transfers to filter for all transfers.
- Choose the transfer you wish to view details for.
- Follow the instructions to update your transfer.
- Log in to your Wealthsimple account.
- Select Activity from the top menu bar.
- Under Filters, select the Type menu.
- Select Transfers.
- You will see the message Action required to resume transfer on the account which you initiated an institutional transfer to.
- Select View details to view your transfer information.
- Follow the instructions to update your transfer.
Sign your transfer request form
After you submit your transfer request, you’ll need to sign your transfer request form. Most account types allow you to digitally sign your transfer form with DocuSign.
If you haven’t signed your transfer form yet, follow these steps:
- Open your Wealthsimple mobile app.
- Under Accounts, tap the account you set up a transfer for.
- Tap the account transfer at the top of the account details page.
The status Signature required to process transfer means you haven’t submitted your signature yet. - Tap Open email at the bottom of your screen.
- From the DocuSign email, tap Review Document (the form will open in a new browser window).
- Follow the prompts to digitally sign your transfer request form.
- Your transfer status will update to In-progress within 24 hours.
It’s normal for the transfer status to say Action required in the meantime while the status is updating.
Cancel a pending institutional transfer
When you make a transfer request, we'll send it over to your banking institution as quickly as we can. For this reason, the fastest way to cancel a pending transfer is to contact your banking institution directly and tell them you do not want to proceed with the transfer.
