On July 7, 2026, Wealthsimple updated client holdings of Toncoin (TON) to Gram (GRAM).
UPDATE ON TON - JULY 2, 2026
Toncoin (TON) has undergone a rebrand that will transition its token from TON to Gram (GRAM). This update is part of the team's broader efforts to align with its overall initiatives. The update will occur on a 1:1 basis, meaning that for every 1 TON token held, holders will receive 1 GRAM. You can find more details about this here.
What this means for you
Wealthsimple will be updating TON to GRAM on behalf of its clients. Deposits, withdrawals, and trading of TON will cease on July 5, 2026 at 9 pm ET. The rebrand from TON to GRAM will take place soon afterwards. Clients can expect downtime between when TON becomes inactive on our platform and when GRAM is credited to their accounts. Clients will be notified via email when trading for the rebranded GRAM has resumed.
For any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to our support team. We're here to help you navigate this update smoothly.
What is The Open Network?
The Open Network (TON) is a decentralized Layer 1 blockchain that originated as a project developed by Telegram but was discontinued by the company. Development of the network subsequently continued through an independent community and the TON Foundation, which now oversees the blockchain's ongoing development. Designed to support fast, scalable transactions and decentralized applications, TON uses a Proof-of-Stake consensus mechanism and a sharded architecture. In June 2026, The Open Network rebranded its native cryptocurrency from Toncoin (TON) to Gram (GRAM).
What is GRAM?
Gram (GRAM) is the native utility token of The Open Network, used for a variety of functions within the ecosystem, including transaction fees, validator staking, governance participation, and paying for decentralized services like storage and DNS. The token has a total supply of 5.21 billion units, with approximately 2.71 billion GRAM in circulation at the time of this publication.
