If you’ve reported amounts in the Donations and Gifts section that aren’t appearing on your Schedule 9, it means you don’t get a tax benefit from claiming them this year. The optimizer has carried them forward to a future year instead.

If you would rather claim them this year, follow these instructions:

1. Log into your Wealthsimple account.
2. Select the Tax tab at the top of the screen.
3. Select a tax return or start a new tax return.
4. Select Summary on the left-hand side of your screen. 
5. Select the Credits and Deductions to expand the table.
6. Enter the amount you want to claim this year.
7. Lock it in by clicking Lock amounts on the right.
