Starting in the 2020 tax year, all tax filers will be asked to enter their NETFILE Access Code. This is an 8-digit code that you can find on your Notice of Assessment, or your CRA My Account.
This is entirely optional to enter, but if you wish to use information from your most recently submitted tax return to confirm your identity with CRA in the future (such as calling CRA on the phone, or signing up for a CRA My Account), you will need to enter your 8-digit code. If you don’t enter your NETFILE Access Code, you will need to provide information from an earlier tax return to confirm your identity when communicating with CRA.
Where to find your NETFILE Access Code

In the top right corner of the first page of your Notice of Assessment, you will see your NETFILE Access Code right below the date.
