Overview
You can add employees to your Wealthsimple group plan manually for individuals or via a CSV upload for larger groups.
Please keep the following distinction in mind:
- Adding an employee creates their profile in your Wealthsimple group plan account.
- Assigning an employee to a plan initiates the email invitation for them to sign up and start participating.
How to add an individual employee
Follow these steps to add individual employees:
- Log in to your Wealthsimple dashboard
- Select the Employees tab at the top of the screen
- Select Add employee(s)
- Select Individual employee
- Complete all required fields
- Select Submit and register
Note: If you assign a plan during this step, the employee will automatically receive an invitation email.
How to add multiple employees at once
Follow these steps to add multiple employees:
- Log in to your Wealthsimple dashboard
- Select the Employees tab and select Add employee(s)
- Select Multiple employees at once
- Select Download your employee list to get the template
- Add your employee data to the CSV file using the specific formatting requirements listed below
- Upload the completed CSV file back into the dashboard
- Select Upload CSV to finish
Important: If you add employees using a CSV upload, you'll need to separately assign them to a contribution plan to trigger their invitation emails.
Employee list CSV formatting requirements

| external_employee_id | Enter the unique ID used for the employee. |
| annual_salary | Use the format XX.XX. |
| employment_start_date | Use the format YYYY-MM-DD. |
| contribution_plan_identifier | Keep this field empty. |
| contribution_plan_name_read_only | Keep this field empty. |
| default_email_locale | Use en-CA for English or fr-CA for French. |
| employee_status_read_only | Keep this field empty. |
Important: Don't reuse an existing Employee ID, as this will cause an error during the upload.
Assign an employee to a plan
You can assign employees individually by editing their plan settings in their profile, or assign multiple employees at once.
Follow these steps to assign multiple employees at once:
- Navigate to the Employees tab
- In the left filter options, filter by the Unassigned status
- Select the employees to bulk assign
- Select Bulk actions and choose Assign plan
- Select a plan to assign the employee to
- Select Assign plan to finish
