Overview
If your business has multiple owners or directors, you can invite co-owners to verify their identity and complete their agreements directly in the Wealthsimple app. Your Business account becomes fully verified and ready to use once all co-owners have completed their steps.
How to invite a co-owner
How you add co-owners depends on when you opened your Business account.
If you set up your Business account on or after May 11, 2026
If you set up your Business account on or after May 11, 2026, the primary account person (the person who opened the Business account) can add co-owners during the account opening process.
During account opening, you'll be prompted to enter information about any additional owners or directors. Once you've entered their details, they'll receive an in-app notification to complete their own verification.
If you set up your Business account before May 11, 2026
In-app co-owner invitations aren't available for accounts opened before May 11, 2026. If you have questions or need support for adding co-owners through the DocuSign process, contact our support team.
What co-owners need to do
Once invited, co-owners will see a task or notification in their Wealthsimple profile. They'll need to complete the following steps:
- Confirm their personal information.
- Verify their identity.
- Review and acknowledge the relevant legal agreements.

Frequently asked questions
Can I add a co-owner after the account is already open?
No. Your Business account won't be fully verified and ready to use until all owners and directors have completed their in-app verification steps.
Will my co-owner still receive a DocuSign email?
No. Co-owners no longer receive DocuSign emails. All verification and agreement signing now happens directly in the Wealthsimple app.
How long does it take for our account to be verified?
Once all co-owners have completed their in-app verification steps, our team will review your corporate structure to confirm everything is in order. It takes a few business days to complete verification, though it can take longer if extra information is needed.
Why can't my co-owner link a bank account or withdraw funds?
For security reasons, linking bank accounts and making withdrawals to external accounts is currently limited to the primary account person. We're working on expanding co-owner capabilities in future updates.
