How to activate your credit card
Note: We're working hard to get the card into clients' hands and sending out more cards every week. Once you join the waitlist, your waitlist spot is secure, and you’ll get a notification as soon as you’re able to apply.
To start the activation process, you can use the QR code in the envelope with your Wealthsimple Visa Infinite* or Visa Infinite Privilege* card or activate the card in your Wealthsimple app.
Follow these activation steps using the QR code:
- Scan the QR code included in the envelope
- Tap Activate
- Your card is activated
Follow these activation steps using the app:
- Log in to the Wealthsimple app
- Tap your credit card account
- Tap the blue tab that says Your physical card is on the way
- Tap Activate my card
- You'll see a prompt asking “Ready to activate your card?”
- Tap Activate to continue
- A confirmation screen will state, "All set! You activated your card."
- Tap Next to continue
- Tap Got it
- Your credit card is activated
Your virtual card details will match the CVV and expiry date of the physical card after activation. You'll need to update these details if you have them stored as a payment method somewhere.

Troubleshoot activating your card
Review the errors below and how to resolve them:
- Network connection error
- If you see this error, tap Try again.
- Check your network connection if the issue persists.
- Card not found
- You don't have a credit card on your account.
- Please follow the steps if you received an invitation to apply for a credit card.
- Failed activation
- If you see This is taking a while, this means we encountered a problem activating your card.
- We'll notify you when we resolve the problem, and you can activate your card.
