As of November 3, 2025, you will need to manually redeem your cash back into one of your other Wealthsimple accounts, giving you greater flexibility over when and where you redeem your rewards.

View and redeem your earned cash back

Each eligible purchase will display the amount of cash back you earned on that transaction. You can view this in the details of each transaction in your activity history.

The cash back widget on your credit card account screen shows your earned cash back since you last redeemed it. You can tap the widget for a detailed view, including historical earnings and your all-time cash back.

Follow these steps to view and redeem your cash back:

  1. Sign in to the Wealthsimple app on your mobile device
  2. Tap your credit card account

  3. Tap the cash back widget

    Tip: Tap a previous month's bar to view the cash back details for that month.
  4. Tap Redeem
  5. Select the account you want the cash back to be deposited into
  6. Tap Next
  7. Enter the amount you want to redeem
  8. Tap Next
  9. Confirm details and tap Submit

Frequently asked questions

I didn't get the correct amount of cash back. What should I do?

First, we recommend checking if the purchase has settled. Settled transaction amounts can change, causing your final cash back amount to adjust accordingly. Your final cashback amount may vary from what was initially displayed in your activity history.

Next, we recommend checking if a refund was recently processed. We'll reverse the cash back amount you received from the original purchase.

If you still believe you didn't get the right amount, please contact our support team.

What happens if I get a refund?

We'll reverse the cash back. The cash back reversal amount will be calculated based on the refunded amount.

Which accounts can’t I redeem my cash back into?

Cash back can be redeemed into most accounts except for the following:

  • RESP
  • RRIF
  • Spousal RRIF

Can I set up my cash back rewards to redeem automatically?

No. You must redeem your cash back manually in the app. This gives you greater control over when and how you receive your cash back rewards!

Do I need to wait for a minimum amount to accumulate before I can redeem? Is there a limit to how often I can redeem?

You can redeem your cash back as often as you’d like and for as little or as much as you’d like.

Can I redeem my cash back directly towards paying off my balance?

Not directly, but you can move your cash back into your chequing account from which you pay your statement.

What's considered a cash-like transaction?

Cash-like transactions are defined as any monetary transaction that's similar to cash or easily convertible into cash. Examples of cash-like transactions include, but aren't limited to:

  • Wire transfers
  • Foreign currency purchases
  • Money orders
  • Gaming transactions (such as off-track betting or gaming chips)
  • Buying remote stored value (like prepaid cards)
  • Wholesale and retail purchases for gemstones, precious metals, watches, and jewelry

If you believe your purchase should receive rewards, please contact our support team with a copy of your receipt, and we'll credit your correct cash back.
