You can lock and unlock your physical or digital Wealthsimple prepaid Mastercard anytime in the Wealthsimple app or on web. Locking your card prevents funds from being spent until you unlock it, so it's a quick way to pause spending if you misplace your card. Unlocking restores normal spending right away.
How to lock or unlock your card
- Log in to the Wealthsimple app
- Tap your spendable chequing account
- Tap the card icon at the top right of your screen
- Swipe between Virtual card settings and Physical card settings
- Use the Lock card toggle to lock or unlock your card
- Log in to your Wealthsimple profile
- Select the Profile icon in the top right corner
- Choose Settings from the menu
- Select Accounts from the options
- Select the Card settings tab
- Select Virtual card settings or Physical card settings
- Use the Lock card toggle to lock your card
Frequently asked questions
Can I unlock my card after I lock it?
Yes. Locking is temporary, so you can unlock your card anytime using the same Lock card toggle in the Wealthsimple app or on web. Your card works normally again as soon as you unlock it.
Is locking my card the same as cancelling it?
No. Locking only pauses spending until you unlock the card. It doesn't cancel or replace your card, and your card details stay the same.
