To claim the Canada Workers Benefit (CWB) in Wealthsimple Tax:
- Add the Canada Workers Benefit section to your Wealthsimple Tax profile
- Indicate your claim:
- Answer "Yes" to the question "Claim the CWB"
-
Check your eligibility:
- Review Schedule 6 in the Summary > Documents section
- If Schedule 6 is blank, you don't qualify for the benefit
Eligibility requirements:
- 19 years of age or older on December 31st
- Resident of Canada for the entire year
You are not eligible if:
- You were a full-time student for more than 13 weeks in the year, unless you have an eligible dependant
- You were confined to a prison or similar institution for 90 days or more in the year
- You don't pay tax in Canada due to diplomatic status or similar exemptions
Important notes:
- If you're eligible for the Disability Tax Credit (DTC), you may qualify for the CWB disability supplement
- The disability supplement question asks if you want to "claim the disability supplement" rather than about DTC eligibility
- Having an eligible dependant can affect your CWB eligibility, especially if you were a full-time student
Remember:
- Accurately report your income and personal information
- Keep all relevant documents to support your claim
