If you're under 65 and wondering why your pension income is reported on line 13000 instead of line 11500, here's what you need to know:
Reporting on line 13000:
For individuals under 65 as of December 31 of the tax year, certain pension payments are reported on line 13000 (Other income). This includes:
- Amounts in box 024 or 133 of your T4A slips
- Amounts in boxes 16 or 20 of your T4RIF slips
Important notes:
- These amounts do not qualify for the pension income amount on line 31400
- This reporting applies only if you were under 65 at the end of the tax year
How to report in Wealthsimple Tax:
- Add the relevant slip section to your profile (T4A or T4RIF)
- Enter the information as it appears on your slip
- Wealthsimple Tax will automatically allocate the amounts to the correct line based on your age and the nature of the income
You can review how your pension income is reported by checking the T1 General form in the Documents section of your profile. For more details on reporting pension income, you can review the CRA's guidelines on line 13000 and line 11500.
