Get a rebate of the interest on your Portfolio Line of Credit (PLOC) withdrawals for 90 days, up to $3,000, with the PLOC 0% Rate Rebate Promotion. You can take part if we’ve invited you.
Who’s eligible
You can take part if you’re a new or existing PLOC client who hasn’t made a withdrawal yet. You also need to live in Canada, be the age of majority where you live, and have all your Wealthsimple accounts in good standing. PLOCs that are business accounts aren’t eligible. See who’s eligible.
How it works
Make a withdrawal of any amount from your PLOC within your borrowing window. New clients have 90 days from the day they open their PLOC. Existing clients have until January 18, 2027. See how to take part.
Your rebate
Once you complete a qualifying withdrawal, your 90-day rebate period starts. During that period, we rebate the full interest rate that applies to you on your withdrawals, up to $3,000. You’re still responsible for repaying your balance and any interest the rebate doesn’t cover.
Frequently asked questions
Who’s eligible for this promotion?
To take part, you need to meet all of these requirements at the time you participate and when we apply your rebate:
- We’ve invited you to take part.
- You’re a new or existing PLOC client who hasn’t made a withdrawal from your PLOC.
- All your Wealthsimple accounts are in good standing.
- You’re a legal resident of Canada.
- You’re the age of majority or older in your province or territory.
- This promotion isn’t available for PLOCs that are business accounts.
How long do I have to take part?
The promotion starts on October 21, 2026 at 12:01 am ET. If you open a new PLOC, you have 90 days from the day you open it to make a withdrawal. If you already have a PLOC and haven’t made a withdrawal, you have until January 18, 2027. Your 90-day rebate period starts when you first complete a qualifying action and ends 90 days later at 11:59 pm ET.
How do I take part in this promotion?
If you’re a new client:
- Apply for a new PLOC after October 21, 2026 and wait for approval.
- Add an eligible collateral account to your PLOC.
- Make a withdrawal of any amount within 90 days of the day you open your PLOC.
If you’re an existing client with a PLOC and an eligible collateral account that you set up before October 21, 2026, make a withdrawal of any amount from your PLOC by January 18, 2027. You can only take part if you haven’t made a withdrawal before.
How is my rebate calculated?
We rebate the full interest rate that applies to you for the 90-day rebate period on your withdrawals, up to $3,000. Your PLOC interest rate depends on your client status:
- Generation: prime rate minus 0.5%
- Premium: prime rate
- Core: prime rate plus 0.5%
We calculate PLOC interest daily and charge it monthly. If your status changes during the rebate period, your new client status will be taken into account. You can get one rebate per client for each eligible PLOC.
When will I get my rebate?
We apply your rebate to your PLOC by the later of these two dates:
- Five business days after the end of the month in which your PLOC interest is charged.
- The day after the date that interest charge posts to your PLOC.
All your Wealthsimple accounts need to be in good standing when we apply your rebate.
What happens if I don’t keep my account in good standing, or don’t repay my balance?
You’re always responsible for the full amount you borrow and all interest, including interest the rebate doesn’t cover and interest after your rebate period ends. Interest builds up daily and is added to your balance monthly. If your PLOC becomes delinquent, we may use any of our rights under your account agreement. This includes applying funds from your other Wealthsimple accounts or selling your collateral investments. Delinquency may also limit your ability to close accounts or move funds. We may also remove your rebate if we suspect fraudulent or abusive behaviour, or a violation of the terms.
Can I combine this promotion with other offers?
Yes, unless the terms of the other promotion say otherwise. If you get a commitment letter for this promotion and later sign up for another promotion that can’t be combined, check that promotion’s terms for details.
Are there tax implications?
In most cases, rebates like this have tax implications. We recommend you speak with an accountant or tax professional. We won’t issue a tax slip for rebates paid to a non-registered account, so you’re responsible for any required tax reporting.
What counts as a qualifying action?
A qualifying action is making a withdrawal of any amount from your PLOC within your borrowing window, after you’ve opened a PLOC and added an eligible collateral account.
Will any fees be charged or reimbursed?
There are no fees to create a Wealthsimple account. The rebate covers interest on your withdrawals, up to $3,000, during your 90-day rebate period. You’re responsible for any interest it doesn’t cover, including interest after your rebate period ends.
What are the risks of borrowing with a PLOC?
Your PLOC is secured by the investments in your linked collateral accounts. We recalculate your credit limit daily based on the value and risk profile of those investments, and it can decrease without notice. If your collateral value falls or your balance goes over your credit limit, you may need to repay part or all of your balance or add collateral. If you don’t, we may sell investments in your collateral accounts to reduce or clear what you owe. These investments may be sold at a loss, at a time you don’t choose, and this may have tax implications. This promotion doesn’t change the terms of your PLOC account agreement.

If you borrow money to purchase securities, your responsibility to repay the loan and pay interest as required by its terms remains the same even if the value of the securities purchased declines.
An investment strategy that uses borrowed money could result in far greater losses than an investment strategy that does not use borrowed money. There may also be tax consequences to you if assets in your account must be sold in order to meet any obligations to repay the borrowed money or any interest owing.
