Overview
Every employee on your dashboard is assigned a status that shows where they are in their enrolment journey. Use these statuses to track who's actively contributing to your plan, who still needs to complete their setup, and who's no longer participating.
Each account an employee holds, like a Group RRSP or Group TFSA, also has its own status. This tells you whether that account can receive contributions and flags anything that needs to be completed first, like verifying their identity or finishing their account setup questions.
Employee statuses
The following table describes what each employee status means:
| Status | Description |
|---|---|
| Not invited | The employee needs to be assigned and invited to a plan. |
| Invite scheduled | The employee will be invited to join the plan on their plan start date. |
| Invited | The employee was sent an invitation to join the plan but hasn't accepted it yet. |
| In progress | The employee has accepted their invitation and is in the process of opening their account. |
| Opted out | The employee has opened their account but isn't currently receiving contributions. |
| Participating | The employee is actively contributing to the plan. |
| Paused | The employee's contributions are temporarily paused. |
| Terminated | The employee is no longer participating due to termination or departure from the company. |
Account statuses
In addition to the employee status, you can view the status of each individual account. Account statuses show whether a given account is able to receive contributions and flag any outstanding actions required, like identity verification or incomplete suitability questions.
To view account statuses:
- Log in to your Wealthsimple profile
- Select the Profile menu
- Select your employer name from the menu
- Select the Employees tab
- Select an employee's name to open their profile
- Scroll to the Account information section
There are 4 possible account statuses:
- Unopened: The account has not been opened yet.

In progress: The employee has started but not finished setting up their account. You'll see the associated reason for this status, which includes:
- Employee needs to complete their identity questionnaire.
- Employee needs to confirm their email address.
- Employee needs to complete their investment profile.
- Employee needs to accept their portfolio recommendation.
- Employee needs to sign their agreements to open their account.
- Contribution details need to be set up before the employee can participate.
- Employee needs to complete identity verification.
- This account requires manual review. A member of our support team can help.
- Open: The account is open and able to receive contributions.
- Closed: The account has been closed.
View and filter employees by status
You can view and filter employees by their current status. Follow these steps:
- Log in to your Wealthsimple profile
- Select the Profile menu
- Select your employer name from the menu
- Select the Employees tab
- From the Status column, click the filter button to choose your filtering criteria
- The employee list will update accordingly
- Select Clear filters to return to the full list of employees
