Overview
Use Wealthsimple's iOS widgets to quickly see your account balances, track securities, and access key features directly from your iPhone's Home Screen and Lock Screen without opening the app.
Available widgets
You can choose from several types of widgets to customize your experience:
- Accounts Balance Widget: Track the combined balance of all your accounts, or customize it to show specific account types like Managed, Self-directed, or Chequing accounts.
- Security Widget: Track the daily price changes of your favourite stocks or crypto.
- Shortcuts Widget: Get quick access to your Watchlist, Holdings, Home, Move, Discover, Activities, Profile, and Settings.
- Credit Card Widget: View your up-to-date balance, pending balance, and available credit.
Set up widgets on your iPhone
You can add widgets to both your Home Screen and your Lock Screen.
Add a widget to your Home Screen
- From the Home Screen, touch and hold an empty area until the apps jiggle.
- Tap the Add (+) button in the upper-left corner.
- Search for and select Wealthsimple, then choose from the available widgets.
- Select a size, then tap Add Widget.
- Tap Done.
Add a widget to your Lock Screen
- Touch and hold the Lock Screen until the Customize button appears, then tap Customize.
- Select Lock Screen.
- Tap Add Widgets.
- Search for and select Wealthsimple.
- Tap or drag the widgets you want to add to the Lock Screen.
- When you're finished, tap the close (x) button, then tap Done.
Frequently asked questions
What should I do if my widgets aren't updating correctly?
If your widget isn't showing accurate information, please try the following troubleshooting steps:
- Make sure you're signed in to your account in the Wealthsimple app.
- Try opening and closing the app to force a refresh.
- Check that your device has an active internet connection.
- Remove and re-add the widget.
- Restart your device.
How often do the widgets update?
The Security widget refreshes approximately every 5 minutes. All other widgets update about every 30 minutes, or when you close the Wealthsimple app.
Can I customize the shortcuts in the Shortcuts widget?
Yes. After adding the widget, you can edit it to customize which shortcuts appear. Available shortcuts include Watchlist, Holdings, Move, Discover, Activity Feed, Home, Profile, and Settings.
Can I change which accounts are displayed in the Accounts Balance Widget?
Yes. After adding the widget, you can tap and hold it to edit. From there, you can select which account types to display and the timeframe for the balance shown.
Which iOS devices and versions do I need to use these widgets?
These widgets are available on iPhones running iOS 14 or later. The Lock Screen widgets specifically require iOS 16 or later.
Is my financial information secure when displayed on widgets?
Yes. While widgets display account information for convenience, sensitive details like account numbers are not shown. Your device's security features, like Face ID or a passcode, still protect the app itself.
