Overview
You can manage your connected accounts through the Move tab. Your linked external accounts are grouped by the bank or brokerage they belong to, so you can start a transfer, set up direct deposit, compare your chequing account to your external bank, and manage your connected institutions all in one place.
View your connected accounts
Follow these steps to view your connected external accounts:
- Log in to the Wealthsimple app
- Tap the Move (two arrows icon) tab
- Scroll down and tap Transfer an account to Wealthsimple
Your connected accounts are grouped by institution, so all accounts from the same bank or brokerage appear together.
Start a transfer
Follow these steps to start a transfer from your connected accounts:
- Log in to the Wealthsimple app
- Tap the Move (two arrows icon) tab
- Scroll down and tap Transfer an account to Wealthsimple
- Tap Transfer on an investing account under the institution you want to transfer from
For the full transfer process, see Different ways to fund your Wealthsimple account.
Set up direct deposit
Follow these steps to set up direct deposit from your connected accounts:
- Log in to the Wealthsimple app
- Tap the Move (two arrows icon) tab
- Scroll down and tap Transfer an account to Wealthsimple
- Tap Move on a chequing account under the institution you want to transfer from
- Tap Set up direct deposit
For the full setup process, see Set up and manage a direct deposit or a pre-authorized debit with your chequing account.
Compare your chequing account to your external bank
If you have a connected chequing account, you may see a comparison of what you could earn by moving your money from your external bank to Wealthsimple.
Not all accounts are eligible for this comparison. Accounts like GICs, LIRAs, or accounts with missing account number information won't show a move option.
Remove a connected institution
Follow these steps to remove a connected account:
- Log in to the Wealthsimple app
- Tap the Move (two arrows icon) tab
- Scroll down and tap Transfer an account to Wealthsimple
- Tap the trash icon next to the institution you want to remove
For more detail, see Remove a bank account.
Reconnect a connected institution
Follow these steps to reconnect an external account:
- Log in to the Wealthsimple app
- Tap the Move (two arrows icon) tab
- Scroll down and tap Transfer an account to Wealthsimple
- Tap the refresh icon next to the account that needs to be reconnected
- Follow the prompts to log in to your bank and reauthorize the connection
For troubleshooting, see Troubleshoot linking your bank account.
Troubleshooting
The page looks empty. Where are my connected accounts?
If you recently linked an account through the Net Worth section or during onboarding, it may not appear in this view yet. Re-link through the Transfers tab as a workaround. If you're still not seeing accounts you expect, contact us.
I don't see a move or transfer option on one of my accounts. Why?
Not all account types are eligible for the move or transfer flow. Accounts like GICs, LIRAs, or accounts with missing account number information may not show this option. If you believe your account should be eligible, contact us and we can look into it.
I'm getting an error when I try to reconnect an account. What do I do?
Tap the refresh icon next to the account to reconnect. This takes you to your bank's login screen to reauthorize the connection. If the error continues, see Troubleshoot linking your bank account.
