Overview

Instead of waiting 1-3 business days for a standard withdrawal,  you can use a linked debit card to withdraw funds instantly.

To withdraw funds instantly, ensure your account's available to withdraw balance has sufficient funds. 

Debit withdrawal eligibility is determined by your card issuer's support for instant funds movement. Learn about supported debit cards. 

Eligible accounts

Instant withdrawals are available for the following self-directed account types:

• Non-registered accounts
• Tax-Free Savings Accounts (TFSAs)

Making a withdrawal using a linked debit card

To make a withdrawal using your debit card, follow these steps: 

1. Log in to your Wealthsimple app
2. Tap the Move tab at the bottom of the screen
3. Under Move money, tap VISA Debit
4. Tap Withdraw instantly
5. Select the account you wish to withdraw from
6. Select the debit card you want to withdraw to
7. Tap Next
8. Enter the amount you wish to withdraw, and tap Next
9. Review your withdrawal details and Submit

Supported debit cards

Your debit card is eligible for debit withdrawals if your card issuer supports instant fund movement.

Supported institutions include:

• TD Canada Trust Visa debit
• CIBC Visa debit
• Scotiabank Visa debit
• Tangerine Visa debit
• Servus Credit Union Mastercard debit

Unsupported institutions include:

• RBC virtual Visa debit
• BMO Mastercard debit
• Any prepaid debit cards (Visa and Mastercard)

Wealthsimple doesn't store your full card details. We use a PCI-compliant payment processor to secure your card details.
