If you're looking for how to find your investment account statement for an account transfer, please follow these instructions instead.
Get a digital void cheque or direct deposit form
We may ask you to upload a void cheque or direct deposit form. We only accept digital documents.
The following information must be present on your void cheque or direct deposit form:
- Your full name
- Your full account number
- Your bank’s logo
Make sure your document is an original, unedited PDF downloaded from your online banking account. We can't accept photographs of cheques from a chequebook, or any other physical, handwritten, or printed document.
Get a digital chequing or savings account statement
We may also request digital chequing or savings account statements. These account statements must be in an original PDF format.
The account statements must also have the following information:
- Your full name
- Your full account number
- Your bank's logo
Follow these steps to find your digital chequing or savings account statement:
- Go to your online banking account.
- Make sure that you have e-statements set up.
- Navigate to "My Documents" or "My Account Statements" (the language for these sections may vary).
- Download the appropriate document (typically a monthly or annual statement) to your computer.
- Upload it to your Wealthsimple profile
Tip: Transit numbers are always 5 digits long. The last digit may be omitted on your bank statement, however, this digit simply represents your location:
- 0 = British Columbia and the Yukon Territories
- 1 = West Quebec
- 2 = Ontario
- 3 = Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland
- 4 = New Brunswick, East Quebec, and Labrador
- 6 = East Ontario

Troubleshooting tips for different banks
Below are some tips for common errors with specific banks when referencing your investment statement:
-
CIBC: If you're requesting an investment account transfer with mutual funds, make sure to select CIBC Securities Inc. and not CIBC Branch.
-
RBC: If your RRSP is “locked-in”, then you should select LIRA as “account type” and not RRSP.
-
TD: Make sure to select the correct division, either TD Mutual Funds or TD Canada Trust.
- Manulife Group Retirement Services: Make sure to provide your Policy Number and not the Customer Number.
