Overview
Review the scenarios below for instructions to close your chequing account:
- If you have only one chequing account, please contact our support team to close your account.
- If you have multiple chequing accounts, you can close a chequing account yourself.
Tip: If your account is funded, please withdraw your funds before requesting your account to be closed. We will only be able to close your account once all funds have been withdrawn from your account.
How to close a chequing account
If you wish to close a chequing account (including an account that's "In Progress"), follow these steps:
- Sign in to the Wealthsimple mobile app
- From the Home tab, tap your desired chequing account
- Tap the Settings (gear) icon in the top right corner
- Scroll down and tap Close account
- Review the conditions to close the account and confirm by tapping Close account
Tip: If you don’t see the option to close your account, you may be trying to close a spendable chequing account. You must switch spendable accounts before you can close the desired account:
- From the Home tab, tap your spendable Chequing account
- Tap the Settings (gear) icon in the top-right corner
- Under Settings, tap Spending
- Choose a different account to spend from
- Tap Confirm to save your changes
You can now follow the steps above to close your desired chequing account.
