Close an investment account
If you no longer need one of your investment accounts, you can close it directly through your Wealthsimple profile. Investment accounts include managed accounts, trading accounts, and Save accounts.
Tip: Before closing an account, make sure to do the following:
Once your account balance is $0, you can close your investing account on either desktop or mobile:
- Sign in to the Wealthsimple app on your mobile device.
- Tap the Profile icon tab at the top-right of the screen.
- Tap the gear icon in the top right corner.
- Choose Accounts from the menu.
- Select the account you wish to close from your list of opened accounts.
- Scroll to the bottom.
- Tap Close account.
- This will bring up a confirmation screen for you to confirm if you'd like to close your account.
- Log in to your Wealthsimple account.
- Under Accounts, select the account you wish to close.
- Select the ellipsis button (...) in the top right corner.
- Choose Close account.
- Confirm by selecting Close account.
Note: If your account was not fully opened, or if you never funded your account, you will need to reach out to our support team to have it closed for you.
Close a Cash account
If you wish to close your Cash account, please follow these instructions.
Tip: If your account is funded, please withdraw your funds before requesting your account to be closed. We will only be able to close your account once all funds have been withdrawn from your account.
