For recent tax years, you can start or continue a tax return for:
Note: You can only access these links from your Wealthsimple profile on the web. They're not accessible in the app.
Important:
- Wealthsimple Tax does not support filing for years before 2023
- For 2022 or earlier, use CRA paper forms
Accessing previous year returns:
- Log in to your Wealthsimple profile
- Select the Tax tab
- Click File your tax return
- Choose the desired profile
- Click Account in the top right corner
- Select My tax returns
- View all returns created through Wealthsimple Tax
Tax years no longer supported:
- SimpleTax was taken offline in stages:
- 2012-2016 returns: Deprecated in September 2023
- 2017-2019 returns: Deprecated in August 2024
- Clients were notified to download PDF copies for their records
- Wealthsimple Tax returns are not available for the following years
- 2020-2022 returns: Deprecated in October 2025
- We notified you to download PDF copies for your records
- You can access and download your 2020-2022 tax return submissions
- If you paper-mailed your return and no longer have a copy, please contact our support team
For 2017-2019 SimpleTax returns:
- Returns successfully submitted via NETFILE are available in Wealthsimple Tax accounts
- Find them in Account > My Tax Returns
- PDFs are encrypted with the password used at submission time
- Passwords cannot be updated
- For some 2019 returns, the last saved version may be available if the submitted version can't be decrypted
- Data for returns not successfully submitted were not saved
- Underlying data is retained for PDF generation but may be deleted in the future
Remember:
- Keep copies of all tax returns and supporting documents for at least six years
- If you need access to a return that's not available, contact the CRA directly
- If you need to amend a tax return from before 2023, you can use your CRA My Account or a T1 Adjustment form
