Follow these steps to browse and redeem items using your earned Cashback:
- Log in to the Wealthsimple app
- Select your credit card account
- Tap Cashback
- Scroll down to the Shop with your cash back section
- Select an item to view more details
- Scroll down and tap Continue
- Review your order details on the next page, including your shipping address and any applicable sales tax
- Tap Place your order
Once your order is placed, you'll see an order confirmation screen and receive a confirmation email from Wealthsimple.
Split Pay
Split Pay lets you combine your Cashback with a payment on your Wealthsimple Visa Infinite*, Visa Infinite +*, or Visa Infinite Privilege* credit card. Your Cashback must cover at least 50 percent of the item's total cost, including sales tax, and the rest is charged to your credit card.
For more details, see the Split Pay FAQs below.
Taxes
Starting October 14, 2026, applicable sales tax will be added to purchases on the merchant rewards storefront.
How sales tax is calculated
Sales tax is based on your order's shipping address. The rate depends on the province or territory the item is shipped to and may include GST, HST, PST, or QST.
By default, sales tax is calculated using the address on file for your Wealthsimple account. If you enter a different shipping address at checkout, your tax amount may change to reflect the rate for that location.
Before you place your order, you'll see a breakdown of the item subtotal, sales tax, and order total on the order review page. You'll also find this breakdown in your emailed order confirmation.
Using Cashback toward taxes
Your Cashback can be used to cover both the item and the sales tax. If you use Split Pay, at least 50 percent of your order's total cost (subtotal plus taxes) must be covered by Cashback.
Shipping and delivery
Shipping methods and timelines depend on the item you select. All items must be shipped to a physical Canadian mailing address and cannot be delivered to a P.O. box.
| Item | Shipping Provider | Estimated Timeline | Tracking Available? | Signature Required? |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Wallets and Keychains | Canada Post | 5–10 business days | No | No |
| Apple Products | FedEx or UPS | Within 10 business days | In progress | Depends on carrier |
| Monos Luggage | UPS Standard | 5–7 business days | Yes | Usually no |
| FELLOW (Eight Ounce Coffee) | Canada Post, UPS, FedEx, or Purolator | Within 10 business days | Yes | Yes |
Gifting an item
You can ship Apple products, Monos luggage, and FELLOW items to someone else as a gift. During checkout, simply enter the shipping address in the delivery field. Sales tax for gifted items is based on the recipient's shipping address.
Missing a delivery
If you know you'll be away, you can provide an alternative delivery address at checkout or wait to select your reward until you're available to receive it.
Returns and exchanges
All reward redemptions are final sale. Once an item has shipped, it's non-transferable, non-exchangeable, and non-refundable. Rewards have no surrender value and cannot be exchanged for cash. This includes any sales tax paid on the order.

Taxes
Why am I being charged sales tax on my reward?
As of October 14, 2026, sales tax is applied to all applicable purchases on the merchant rewards storefront, in line with provincial and federal tax requirements. The amount is based on where your item is being shipped.
How is the sales tax on my order calculated?
Sales tax is calculated based on your shipping address. By default, we use the address on file for your Wealthsimple account. Rates vary by province and territory, so the amount you pay depends on where the item is being delivered.
Why did my tax amount change at checkout?
If you changed your shipping address during checkout, your sales tax was recalculated based on the new address. This can happen when you ship to a different province or territory than the one on file for your account.
Can I use my Cashback to pay for sales tax?
Yes. Your Cashback can be applied to your full order total, including sales tax. If you use Split Pay, the 50 percent Cashback requirement is based on the total cost of your order (subtotal plus taxes).
If I send an item as a gift, whose address is used to calculate tax?
Sales tax is based on the shipping address entered at checkout. If you're sending an item to someone else, the tax will reflect the rate for the recipient's province or territory.
Will I be charged tax on orders I placed before October 14?
No. Sales tax only applies to orders placed on or after October 14, 2026.
Where can I see how much tax I paid?
You can see a breakdown of your subtotal, sales tax, and order total in two places: on the order review page before you place your order, and in your emailed order confirmation.
Is sales tax refundable?
All reward redemptions are final sale, including any sales tax paid on the order.
Split Pay
What is Split Pay?
Split Pay lets you combine your Cashback with a payment on your Wealthsimple Visa Infinite*, Visa Infinite +*, or Visa Infinite Privilege* credit card. You can use it to redeem storefront items that cost more than your current Cashback balance.
How much of the total cost needs to be covered by Cashback?
At least 50 percent of your order's total cost, including sales tax, must be covered by your Cashback. There's no minimum dollar amount. When you check out, you can choose how much Cashback to apply, and the remaining balance is charged to your Wealthsimple Visa Infinite*, Visa Infinite +*, or Visa Infinite Privilege* credit card.
For example, say your order total is $226.00 including tax and you have $150.00 in Cashback. You can apply anywhere from $113.00 to $150.00 of your Cashback, and the rest is charged to your credit card.
Which items are eligible for Split Pay?
All items available on the merchant rewards storefront are eligible for Split Pay.
How do I know if I have enough Cashback to use Split Pay?
Each item displays a progress bar showing how close your Cashback balance is to the amount needed for Split Pay. The progress bar is based on the item's total cost, including sales tax. Once your Cashback covers at least 50 percent of the total, you can complete your purchase using Split Pay.
Sales tax is based on the address on file for your Wealthsimple account. If you ship to a different address at checkout, the amount of Cashback needed may change.
Which payment method is charged for the remaining balance?
The remaining balance is charged to your Wealthsimple Visa Infinite*, Visa Infinite +*, or Visa Infinite Privilege* credit card. Other payment methods aren't currently supported for Split Pay.
Is the Split Pay amount charged to my card treated like a regular purchase?
Yes. The amount charged to your Wealthsimple Visa Infinite*, Visa Infinite +*, or Visa Infinite Privilege* credit card is treated as a regular purchase. It's subject to your card's standard purchase interest rate if your balance isn't paid in full by your payment due date.
What happens if I don't have enough available credit?
You'll need enough available credit on your Wealthsimple Visa Infinite*, Visa Infinite +*, or Visa Infinite Privilege* credit card to cover the remaining balance. If you don't, you won't be able to complete your purchase using Split Pay.
Will I see one charge or two on my statement?
You'll see one charge on your statement for the amount charged to your Wealthsimple Visa Infinite*, Visa Infinite +*, or Visa Infinite Privilege* credit card. It appears as "Wealthsimple Redemption Marketplace." The Cashback you applied isn't charged to your card, but you can see it in your card activity.
Can I get a refund if I return a Split Pay purchase?
All reward redemptions, including Split Pay purchases, are final sale. Once an item has shipped, it's non-transferable, non-exchangeable, and non-refundable. This applies to both the Cashback and credit card portions of your purchase, as well as any sales tax paid. Rewards have no surrender value and cannot be exchanged for cash.
What does the Notify me feature do?
If you don't have enough Cashback to use Split Pay on an item yet, tap Notify me on that item. You'll get a push notification once your Cashback balance reaches the Split Pay threshold, so you can come back and complete your purchase. Make sure notifications are turned on for the Wealthsimple app so you don't miss it.
Is there a fee to use Split Pay?
No, there's no fee to use Split Pay.
Will I earn Cashback on a Split Pay purchase?
