Overview
If your account was restricted for security reasons, you may be able to remove the restriction yourself by scanning your passport using Near Field Communication (NFC) technology. Once you successfully verify with your passport, the restriction is lifted automatically so you can continue using your account as usual.
How it works
If we notify you of a restriction, follow these steps to verify your identity with your passport:
- Open the Wealthsimple app and we'll direct you to the restriction screen.
- Tap Verify with passport.
- Follow the prompts to scan your NFC-enabled passport with your phone.
- Once verification is complete, your restriction is lifted right away.
If you don't have a passport or an NFC-enabled device
If you don't own a passport, tap I don't own a passport on the verification screen. If your phone doesn't support NFC, you won't be able to complete this step in the app. Either way, you'll be routed to contact our support team, who can help resolve the restriction another way.
