Overview

You can request a physical version of your prepaid Visa Platinum* card to use for in-person purchases.

Keep in mind that each of your personal chequing accounts comes with a card number automatically associated with it that you can use to spend with your digital wallet. You can also use your card number to make purchases online.

Tip: If you're looking to replace a physical prepaid Visa card that you lost, is damaged, or was stolen, please follow the steps to request a replacement in the app.

How to request a physical card

To request a physical Visa Platinum prepaid card, follow the steps below:

Tip: Make sure that your address is up-to-date before requesting your physical card to ensure that it gets sent to the right place.

  1. Log in to your Wealthsimple app
  2. Tap your personal chequing account
  3. Tap the card icon at the top-right of your screen
  4. Tap Request a physical card
  5. Follow the prompts on-screen to request your physical prepaid Visa card
  1. Log in to Wealthsimple on a computer or laptop
  2. Select your personal chequing account
  3. Select the virtual card at the top-right of your screen
  4. Select Request a physical card
  5. Confirm or change your shipping address when prompted, and we'll send your card

You can expect to receive your physical prepaid Visa card within 15 business days. Once you receive your physical prepaid Visa card in the mail, you will need to activate it.

Can I get a Wealthsimple prepaid Visa card for my joint chequing account?

Each account holder on a joint chequing account gets their own prepaid Visa card number, with the option to each request a physical card.

How do I tell my prepaid Visa cards apart if I have one for each chequing account?

Since each prepaid Visa card is linked to only one chequing account, you can check the last four digits of the physical card with the card details in your chequing account:

  1. Log in to your Wealthsimple app
  2. Tap your chequing account
  3. Tap Manage card
  4. Compare the last 4 digits of both cards to confirm which card is linked to the chequing account
