Overview
You can make better trading decisions and gain deeper insights with advanced trading charts on Wealthsimple. Advanced trading charts on Wealthsimple allow you to access candlestick and line charts and analyze market data across different timeframes.
The Advanced Trading View is a set of significant user interface improvements to the advanced charting page, designed to create a comprehensive trading dashboard for active traders. This update consolidates key trading information and actions directly onto the chart screen, eliminating friction and increasing your speed and efficiency.
Here are some important considerations regarding the Advanced Trading View:
- Advanced charts aren't available for crypto and options at this time.
- Over-the-counter security data may be delayed on advanced charts, depending on the security you are viewing.
- Advanced trading charts are only available on the web.
How to view advanced trading charts
The Advanced Trading View is accessed by expanding the price chart of any security on the web. This will open up the advanced chart, but the page has been enhanced with additional features, including:
- A new section below the chart with tabs that allow you to instantly see your Holdings, Pending Orders, and Order History for the selected security.
- The ability to place buy and sell orders directly from the Holdings tab, allowing you to act on your analysis without ever leaving the chart page.
- The top bar of the chart now displays more detailed real-time market data, including Open, High, Low, and Close (OHLC) prices, as well as the current Bid and Ask prices.
To view advanced trading charts:
- Log in to your Wealthsimple profile

- To change the length of time you're viewing, use the buttons near the top of the chart to select a specific timeframe.
- To change the data granularity, scroll up on the chart to increase granularity and scroll down to decrease it.
Select an indicator
If you'd like to superimpose an indicator such as Volume, Volume-Weighted Average Price (VWAP), Relative Strength Index (RSI), Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD), or 5+ Day Moving Averages on the chart, select Indicators near the top of the chart and then check or uncheck your desired indicators.
Frequently asked questions
What is the Advanced Trading View?
The Advanced Trading View is a new dashboard-style interface on the advanced charting page. It consolidates key trading information like your current holdings, pending orders, and order history into a single panel directly below the chart, allowing you to analyze and trade without leaving the screen.
How is this different from the regular chart page?
The main difference is efficiency. On the regular chart page, you have to switch to other screens to see your positions or place a trade. With the Advanced Trading View, everything is integrated onto one page. You can see the chart, view your holdings, and place trades all in the same place.
How do I place a trade from this new view?
There are two ways to trade from here:
- Click on the Trade button at the top right to open the order flow.
- If you already own the security, in the new panel below the chart, there's a Holdings tab. Within this tab, you'll see your current position in the stock you're viewing, along with buttons to buy or sell directly from that line item.
