You can easily turn dividend reinvestments on or off for your entire account. Keep in mind that you must own shares of the stock or ETF at the time of receiving dividends for the dividends to be reinvested.
Follow these steps to turn dividend reinvestments on or off:
- Log in to your Wealthsimple mobile app
- Tap your self-directed investing account
- Tap the Settings (gear) icon in the top right corner
- Select Dividend reinvestments
- Toggle ON/OFF dividend reinvestments
Notes:
- You can't activate or deactivate dividend reinvestments for an individual stock in your portfolio. The setting applies to your entire account portfolio.
- Activating dividend reinvestments is only available in the mobile app.
- Joint non-registered accounts aren't eligible for dividend reinvestments at this time.
- We'll charge foreign exchange fees when reinvesting USD dividends to purchase USD securities in a non-USD account. We don't charge foreign exchange fees when you turn off dividend reinvestments in your non-USD account.
- We don't charge foreign exchange fees regardless of whether you have dividend reinvestments turned on or off if you hold USD securities in a USD account.
