With your spending account, you can send and receive payments to anyone else that uses the Cash app without paying any fees. You can also send money to people who don't have the Cash app yet. They will receive a prompt to download the app and claim the money you sent them.
Send money to your friends
When sending funds to your friends through the Cash app, you will be given the option to send from your bank or your wallet.
- Bank: Funds are taken directly from your bank account. You can send up to $250 to friends through this method.
- Wallet: Funds are taken from your available funds in your spending (Cash) account. The amount you send is limited to the balance available in your spending account.
To send money to friends, follow these steps —
- Open your Cash mobile app
- Tap the $ button in the centre of the screen
- Search (either by name, $ign, or phone number) and select a contact or Send to a new contact and search for your friend's email
- Select either Bank or Wallet from the top of the screen
- Fill out and confirm the amount you want to send
- Add an emoticon or write a message
- Swipe up to send to your contact
Any money you send will be auto-deposited into your receiver's spending (Cash) account. If your receiver does not have the Cash app, we'll prompt them to download it to claim their funds.
Sending limits
The Wealthsimple Cash app has daily, weekly and monthly sending limits.* We won't complete any transactions that go over your sending limit.

You received money but don’t want to use the Cash app
The contact who sent you the money will need to cancel the payment from their end - the payment will not go through unless you sign up for the app.
The sender can cancel the payment by following these steps —
- Open your Cash mobile app
- Select your Wallet balance in the top left-hand corner of the screen
- Look for the contact you sent money to and click on their name
- At the bottom of the screen, select Cancel payment and Confirm
- Your payment will now be cancelled
Remove a contact after sending them funds
It is not possible to remove a specific contact from your Wealthsimple Cash app home screen.
