Frequently asked questions
Can I fulfil an Interac e-Transfer® request from my Wealthsimple account?
Yes. Wealthsimple now supports fulfilling Interac e-Transfer® requests. When someone sends you a request, select Wealthsimple as your financial institution on the Interac portal and complete the transfer from your chequing account.
Which account can I use to fulfil an e-Transfer® request?
You can fulfil e-Transfer® requests using your personal or corporate Wealthsimple chequing account. Make sure you have enough funds available before completing the transfer.
Can I send an e-Transfer® request to someone else through Wealthsimple?
Not yet. This update only covers fulfilling requests sent to you. The ability to send a money request to someone else isn't available yet.
What happens if my transfer fails?
If a transfer can't be completed due to insufficient funds, you'll see a message explaining what went wrong and what to do next.
Why couldn't I fulfil e-Transfer® requests from Wealthsimple before?
Wealthsimple wasn't previously registered as a participant on the Interac gateway, so it didn't appear as an option when fulfilling requests. This update adds Wealthsimple to the gateway so the feature works as expected.
Is there a limit on how much I can send when fulfilling an e-Transfer® request?
Yes. Fulfilling an e-Transfer® request uses the same send limits as a regular Interac e-Transfer® send. The amount must fall within your available daily and per-transaction send limits. If you've already sent e-Transfer® requests earlier in the day, those amounts will count toward your limit.
Does fulfilling an e-Transfer® request affect my send limits?
Yes. Fulfilling a request counts against your e-Transfer® send limits the same way a regular send does. If you're close to your daily or per-transaction limit, you may not be able to fulfil a request until your limit resets.
