Frequently asked questions
What happens if I don't tap Undo before the timer runs out?
Once the timer expires or you tap Done, the transfer proceeds as normal and you can't undo it through the app. If you need to recover funds after this window, you'll need to contact our support team. Please note that recovery isn't guaranteed, especially for recipients with auto-deposit.
Can I turn off the cool down timer?
Yes, you can adjust or disable the cool down timer in your e-Transfer settings on both the web and app. This allows you to send transfers instantly without a countdown if you prefer.
Can I send the transfer immediately without waiting for the timer?
We're working on a Send Now button that lets you bypass the countdown. If available, this button will appear on the success screen next to the Undo and Done buttons.
What happens after I tap Undo?
If you tap Undo before the timer expires, the transfer is cancelled immediately. You'll see a cancellation confirmation screen, and the money is returned to your account.
What if I sent money to the wrong person and the timer has already expired?
If the cool down window has passed, the transfer can't be cancelled through the app. For recipients with auto-deposit, you'll need to contact them directly to request a return.
I sent a transfer to someone without auto-deposit. Can I still cancel it?
Yes. If the recipient doesn't have auto-deposit, you'll see the option to cancel more prominently on the success screen and in your activity feed. You can cancel the transfer from either location as long as the recipient hasn't deposited the funds yet.
Why was I redirected to my account activity after sending a transfer?
After you tap Done on the success screen, we'll direct you to your account activity page. This makes it easier for you to see the transfer in your feed and access cancellation options if you need them.
Is this feature available on both web and mobile?
No, the Undo functionality is only available on the app. Note that some features, like specific settings, might roll out at different times across platforms.
