If you've encountered NETFILE Error 2515 while submitting your tax return, here's what you need to know:
Understanding the Error
NETFILE Error 2515 is related to your First Home Savings Account (FHSA) and occurs during submission to the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).
This error occurs when the amount in Box 36 (Designated Transfers from an FHSA to an RRSP/RRIF) on your T4FHSA is greater than the combined amounts in Boxes 32 and 34 (Transfers from an RRSP to an FHSA).
The CRA's NETFILE system doesn't accept this combination of values, so your return can't be filed electronically.
What You Can Do
If you encounter NETFILE Error 2515, you should print and mail your return to the CRA.
Avoiding NETFILE Account Lock
Multiple submission attempts while this error persists may result in your NETFILE account being locked. If this happens, contact the CRA directly to have it unlocked.
Important Notes
- The accuracy of your return hasn't been affected by this error.
- This isn't an issue with Wealthsimple Tax specifically - all tax software will encounter the same problem.
- The CRA will automatically make the necessary adjustments to your return.
