Overview
Split a bill let you create groups of Wealthsimple chequing account users to send and request money together. This feature is being retired for now as of August 31, 2026, so we can focus on making money requests faster and simpler. You can still send and request money instantly with individual contacts using Pay friends.
Note: This change does not affect how you send or request money with individual contacts. Only groups and split a bill are affected.
Your existing groups
As of August 31, 2026:
- You can't start a new bill split or group request.
- You can still complete any request that's already pending.
- You won't see your existing groups anymore.
For splitting bills and requesting money going forward, use Pay friends. It's instant and works the same way you're used to.
