We use the questions in the Your Dependants section to determine if you are eligible to claim the caregiver amount (line 315) or the amount for infirm dependant (line 306).

If we’ve added one of these credits to your return but you aren’t eligible to claim it (e.g., because someone else is claiming this credit for this dependant), use the override fields that appear in the right hand column of the table to indicate that you will claim $0 federally and $0 provincially. You can also use this column if you want to split the claim with someone other than your linked partner.
