When accessing your CRA My Account or calling the CRA's individual inquiries line, you may need to provide an amount from a specific line of your tax return for identity verification. Here's how to find this information in Wealthsimple Tax:
For your current year's return:
- Navigate to the Summary section in your profile
- Click on the arrow to expand the line-by-line summary of your return
- Locate the requested line number and its corresponding amount
For a previous year's return:
- Access your previous year's return
- Follow the steps above to find the line number in the Summary section
If you saved a PDF copy of your return:
- Open the PDF file
- Look for the requested line number on:
- The T1 form and Schedule 1 (federal return)
- TP-1 form (for Québec residents)
- To search the PDF:
- On Windows or Mac: Press Ctrl+F (Windows) or Command+F (Mac)
- On mobile devices: Tap the search icon (usually a magnifying glass)
- Type the line number you're looking for (e.g., "15000")
- Press Enter or tap Search
- Use the arrows to navigate between occurrences of the line number
Remember:
- Save a PDF copy of your return each year for easy reference
- Keep your tax returns and notices of assessment easily accessible
- Line numbers may change slightly from year to year
